There is an element of magic in glass, a unique ability to affect the environment around it. The noble craft of Stained Glass has had a dynamic and inspiring impact on western society and Fused Glass can be a contemporary extension of that same rich heritage.
I was 19, when a architecture student noticed me sketching on the streets of Belgium. He struck up a casual conversation and shared his excitement for the innovative aesthetic of Johannes Schreiter. He was researching the influence of post-war German Stained Glass and had dozens of photos and pages of notes he had been collecting all summer. The bold color fields and gestural line movement felt somehow familiar, the transmitted light intuitive and comfortable. That was the beginning of my journey with glass, I never could have predicted where it would lead.
